Update:  As of Saturday 1pm, there is only ONE spot left in this class – hurry up before it’s full!

Number of Classes

Kite Card made from tagAs I mentioned earlier, the tags will always be such that they can be made into a card if you don’t use tags, or if you prefer to have a fully finished card.  So with that in mind, I went ahead and turned my tag into a card to show you just how easy it is!

The stamp set is “Send Me Soaring” from the mini catalogue.  Colors are White, Bashful Blue, Tangerine Tango and Lucky Limeade.

Remember:  we are not making this card at the class – we are making the tag.  But each week I will show you a card option for your tag to provide you with additional inspiration.

I just love the kite tail; it’s my favorite part of the kite – so cute!

I’ll be posting the other card for the first class later this week; it’s a wedding card and I’m pretty sure you’re going to love it!

I’ve also got some more exciting news coming soon – if you’re in the Regina area and you’re a scrapbooker, you will definitely want to stay tuned…!!

Birthday Wishes

Birthday Wishes CardThanks to everyone who left a comment here on the blog and emailed me personally about my new class offerings.  I will be contacting everyone about the card sessions very soon.  In the meantime, I thought I’d share one of the cards we’ll be making at the first class.

This card uses the new Sweet Shop stickers and Jelly Bean Brads from the Occasions Mini Catalogue, along with some new baker’s twine and the new Edgelits Dies and Framelits Dies. So many great new goodies to play with!!

The colors are Early Espresso, Pool Party, Calypso Coral and Whisper White.

Birthday Wishes Card - InsideEach week, we’ll make fully-finished cards.  That means the inside will also be completed.  And you will either receive an envelope to go with each card, or you will make an envelope to go with the card.  More on that soon.

And don’t forget, you will also make a gift tag that can either be used as a tag, or you can take it home and turn it into a full card with a little more card stock!

I will have more details in the next few days…  Until then, have a great weekend & happy stampin’!

You In??

Wow – March already, can you believe it?!  I have been getting busy with brides, but something is different this year.  More brides want to make their own invitations, so I’ve started selling DIY kits.  I still custom design their invitations, and provide them with samples, but then I print, cut and score everything and then they are off and running to put them all together on their own.

So I’m finding myself with a little more free time…

Huh???  What was that???

Yes.  Me.  With free time.  At least  little, anyway…

And I’ve recently heard myself say “I feel like I left the playground early” with regards to holding classes…  I miss you gals!

So I’m taking a survey…..

Is anyone insterested in coming back to classes with me??  I’ve got 2 class ideas brewing.

Scrapbooking NOW – $50 for Earlybird Registration (regular $60)
Do you find that you WANTto scrapbook, you mean to do it, but you just never get around to it??  Yup, me too.  This session of weekly classes will get you on your way NOW.
Class Duration:  6 weeks
Class Length:  60-90 minutes each week
Class Dates/Times:  TBA
Projects:  A double-page layout each week.
Total of 12 scrapbook pages in all, PLUS a page sketch and set of instructions for each week.

Cards & Tags - $50 for Earlybird Registration (regular $60)
I always need cards.  Cards for the teachers, cards for birthdays, anniversaries, sympathy, and on and on. This session of weekly classes will cover all occasions.   I also find that I am constantly whipping up gift tags at the last minute, so having a supply on hand is “a very good thing”.  Don’t use tags?  They will be large and elaborate, and easily used as the front of a card if you choose to convert them after class.
Class Duration: 6 weeks
Class Length:  60-90 minutes each week
Class Dates/Times:  TBA
Projects:  2 cards and 1 tag each week.
Total of 12 cards and 6 tags, (or 18 cards if you turn all your tags into cards).

More class announcements will be coming very soon, too, based on response from you, I guess!  I hope you’re missing them as much as I am…

Thanks for reading & Happy Stampin’!!

March 2, 2012 - 9:33 pm Andra - You - free time???? :)

March 3, 2012 - 8:46 am Jenna G - I'd be interested in attending the card class

March 5, 2012 - 9:37 am Jodi - This is great news! I'd love to attend the card class for sure, and possibly the scrapbook too.

March 10, 2012 - 7:16 pm Wendy - I would be in for the card/tag class, depending on when it is and if I am free. What is the deadline for early bird registration?

March 15, 2012 - 5:53 pm Laura Ambrose - I would love to, but it would really depend on the time of the class. Please keep me posted!

Happy (Late) New Year!

Happy (Late) New Year cardHappy New Year!  I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and I wish you all much love, happiness and success in 2012!  It’s a year for good things!!

Well, as per the last few years, I didn’t quite manage to send out all my Christmas cards in time (but UNlike the past few years, I managed to get about half of them out, so that’s something, at least!!).  I do have a few more people that I want to send cards to along with the kids’ school pictures, so I decided to make a few Happy (Late) New Year cards.  And nothing says late like a turtle.

This little guy is so cute!  He’s from the set “Turtle & Co.”, which is the Ronald McDonald stamp set this year.  I added googlie eyes to him for fun.

The “New Year” part of the sentiment is from “Petite Pairs”, which is one of my favorite sentiment sets in the catalogue right now.

The colors are Crumb Cake, Pool Party, Lucky Limeade and Island Indigo.  Designer paper strips are from the new mini catalogue – Sweet Shop Specialty Designer Paper.  And of course the ribbon and the designer brad are also Island Indigo – gotta have everything matchy-match!

For the turtle’s different shades, I colored his feet, tail & head with Pear Pizzaz, the squares on the shell with Old Olive and the rest of the shell with Lucky Limeade.  Love how easily the colors coordinate but provide me with shading options – no need for blender pens or aquapainters here.  The heart is colored with Wisteria Wonder to match the hearts on the dsp below it.

So again, I wish you all the best in 2012 and thanks very much for looking!

Happy stampin’.

Calendars!

CalendarSorry I’m a day late here for the calendar files.  My little man is home sick today.  He came home from school yesterday with a fever, and he’s much the same now.  This is the third time he’s been sick in about 2 weeks.  Pre-Kindergarden is just chock-full of germs and his little immune system gets a beating.  Poor guy.

However, while he napped, I did get a chance to finish the calendar files today, so they are ready for you!  Those who have pre-ordered will be getting an email with the digital files shortly.  The instructions are the same as the calendars from last year, but the email will include how I changed the wrap-around piece this year, and printing instructions for those who ordered 2012 and 2013 and wish to make school-year planners.

For my sample calendars, I used the Berry Blossoms designer series papers because it’s bright and fun, makes me feel like winter won’t last.  The colors are Crumb Cake and Calypso Coral.

The scallop circle is mounted on dimensionals only on the left side so the wrap-around back cover can be tucked up under the right side of the tite.

As before, I’m providing a link to see a sample of the calendar pages (the samples are taken from the 2010 calendar files, but there have been no changes over the years).

There’s still plenty of time to order and create your calendar gifts – I may not be back on the computer until later tonight, but I will be sure to check for purchases and send out files every day, so you will never have to wait for more than 24 hours to get your files!

CalendarI’ll leave you with the second sample I made; again using the Berry Blossoms dsp.  I just love Crumb Cake with bright colored paper – so fresh and inviting!

For those of you who are demonstrators, purchasing the digital files allows you to offer a calendar class to your customers, and it allows you to sell handmade calendars at local craft shows.  However, you may not redistribute the PDF files, and you may not sell handmade calendars online, as I reserve that right for myself.

Thanks for looking and happy stampin’!

Brides and Birthdays

Happy Sunday! I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend as much as I have. It’s been a very productive weekend! Today alone I’ve made 3 bridal samples, a shower card and a birthday card. Not too shabby… I thought I’d share the shower card and birthday card with you today.

Wedding Shower CardThe shower card itself was a commissioned card for a mother-of-the-bride. I used a cute bridal gown embellishment and I think it turned out very cute.

The colors for this wedding are black & white with a hint of red. The mother-of-the-bride also wanted me to use a little bling. The bling on the dress was the perfect touch. She also likes embossed layers, thus the cuttlebug folder. The finished size of this card is 5″ x 7″, so it’s a really large area to work with. I like it a lot, and I hope the mother-of-the-bride does too.

The stamp set for this card is “For the Bride” and it’s a retired bridal set that I can’t part with. I use this set all the time.

Nana's Birthday CardI liked the card so much that I decided I wanted to use the same general card base for a birthday card for my mom. Her birthday was earlier this week, but we’re only getting together tonight for a family supper. Willow & Brighton signed the inside themselves, so it’ll be a sweet little keepsake for years to come. The stamp set shown here is an oldie but a goodie. It’s Sweet of You from ages ago!

Thanks for looking & happy stampin’!!

November 14, 2011 - 7:41 am Crystelle Tonn - I love the bridal shower card. How does it fit in a envelope? The layout works so well for the birthday card as well. I may have to try this layout if I ever get around to making any cards again.

November 14, 2011 - 8:45 am Karrie Snider - I have envelopes that are 5-1/4" x 7-1/4" for this size card, and they fit just fine. With the bridal shower card, you just want to be careful not to snag the dress on the envelope, but it's not too difficult to get it in there...

Calendar Pre-Order

Baja-Espresso CalendarDaffodil-Peach CalendarIt’s that time of year again – time to make calendars for the new year.  They are perfect gifts for stocking stuffers, or for the kids’ teachers!  Pictured to the right are the calendars from last year.  I am still working on the new calendars myself, but I thought I’d better post something as I’ve already had several requests.

The digital files will be ready on Tuesday, November 15th.  Anyone who places the pre-order between now and then will be emailed the files direct.

Included in the files are some title choices for the front covers as well as a full set of instructions.  If you want to know what the inside pages look like, you can see a sample of the calendar pages here (the samples are taken from the 2010 calendar files, but there have been no changes over the years).

Also, I have had several requests over the last year to have school-year calendars, so I’m also doing the full 2013 calendar year. If you order the 2012-2013 digital files, you will get 2 full years of calendar pages (Jan 2012 to December 2013) as well as instructions on which pages to print to complete a school year calendar from June 2012 – August 2013. Next year I’ll have 2014 available for those who wish to continue with the school-year calendars.

Also on Tuesday I’ll post the calendars with updated covers using current papers and the new titles available in the digital files.

Quick Wedding Layout

Quick Layout for Wedding CardsI had a wedding to go to last weekend, and when I was going through my stash of ready-to-go cards, I realized that I was all out of wedding cards (oops!).  I quickly put one together using an old standby.  This layout works for almost any floral stamp that you might have, with your sentiment in the middle.  Also works nicely as a sympathy card.

The stamp set is Embrace Life and the colors are More Mustard, Daffodil Delight and Old Olive.  I went with Daffodil Delight because I have quite a lot of that satin ribbon, which is as good a reason as any for making your color choices.  I’m still trying to figure out the best way to take photos of my white cards…  ‘Tis some tricky business!

Hope everyone is enjoying the lovely fall weather; I know I am!!

November 4, 2011 - 7:46 am Crystelle Tonn - Hi Karrie, I have been out of our house for 2 months now and have just caught up on your blog now that we are back home. Sorry to hear that you are not offering classes this year but glad to hear that your wedding business is doing well. Still love to look at the cards you make. Keep posting.

Prize

Saturday's PrizeSorry for the delay in getting the door prize prepped and posted; yesterday was a very bad day…

At any rate, Saturday’s clearance sale is from 1pm until 4pm.  Everyone who attends will be entered in a draw to win this cute project tote made from the new Spice Cake fabric.  Inside the tote are 3 stamp sets, a 6″ x 6″ sampler of the Spice Cake designer series paper, 2 yards each of 3 coordinating ribbons and a package of Paper Flowers (not pictured).

This particular tote was made without handles; it’s a table-top tote that is perfect for fall.

Thanks for looking, and I’ll see you tomorrow afternoon!

Oh yeah, and happy stamping!
